Gail Elliott

Learn from those who have made it... talks to Designer Gail Elliott. is loving ‘Little Joe by Gail Elliott’. Stocked worldwide, Little Joe is designed by Gail Elliott, an International Super Model who has traveled the world and adapted from modeling to designing her own international High-end fashion label.

Gail began her career 25 years ago working as a model in London, her first job was a fashion spread for the Daily Mail Newspaper, since then she has worked with Steven Meisel, Mario Testino as well as many other well-known photographers. She has featured on the covers of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Elle magazine. During her travels she noticed a need for garments that were easy and comfortable to wear, yet beautiful! And so Little Joe by Gail Elliott was born – The line launched as a range of beautiful, flattering slips and camisoles that served not only as clothing to lounge and sleep in but could be worn out as well.

Traveling frequently between Sydney, London and New York, Gail gathers inspiration for her latest collections, and when she has a spare moment she loves catching up with her friends Cindy Crawford and Yasmin Le Bon, here are some of her tips to making it in fashion…

So which designers inspire Gail most... Gail says, ‘I love the work of fashion and interior designers - some of my favourites are Roberto Cavali, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Azzedine Alaia who design fashion, and Christian Liagre and John Polsen who are masters at interiors’.

So what’s Gail best advise to those with a ‘passion for fashion’ …. 'find your own style and stay with it. So many young designers seem to be inspired by everything in sight and can't concentrate on perfecting a style. Also to remember it's a business is very important - we can all make beautiful creations but to have a successful business the clothing needs to be wearable, sell well and be consistent so your customers know they can come to you every season and find the beautiful clothing you are known for and that they love.’
