Due to rapid
company expansion we are seeking a Designer to join our friendly Head
Office team located in Kew East, Melbourne.
Reporting to the Buying and Design Manager, you have a keen eye for
fashion and are always up to date with the latest global trends, using
your creative flair to translate them for the Forever New range.
Your role is to design and develop the Forever New range to reflect
the brand in being high quality and fashion forward. You will be working
in a fast paced environment and therefore must be dedicated, hard
working and have the ability to work under pressure.
You will research current trends and express these translations and
your ideas through mood boards and colour palettes, presenting your
concepts to the buying team. You will liaise with our in-house Graphic
Designer to bring your ideas to life.
Your responsibilities include:
- Research current trends to develop key shapes & looks
- Create mood boards and colour palettes and present concepts to the buying team
- Liaise with internal Graphic Designers to develop graphics and yardage prints

Complete garment sketch and design with key measurements and
construction details for sampling and clear specifications to handover
to Production Co-ordinator to develop with China
- Overseas inspiration, buying and sourcing trips
- Utilise bought samples as inspiration and adapt concept to our brand to build range

Participate in range reviews preparing mood boards, concepts and
ensure all samples are mocked up with correct prints/colours for buyers
to show range.
- Attend fit sessions to ensure product reflects original design concept and is correct fit and quality
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 2-3 years design experience in women’s high street fashion
- Trend forecasting experience in Women’s high street fashion
- A sound knowledge of fits and construction
- A qualification in textile design, fashion design or other relevant qualifications
- Confidence to liaise closely with Buyers to keep our ranges on trend
- Intermediate Photoshop and Illustrator experience
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to manage a challenging workload and meet deadlines
- Work with a sense of urgency
- Prioritisation & organisation skills
