you run us through the steps you took in gaining the role you have
now?
Well I worked in my parents
family business for 8 years in accounts, then i wanted to do
something for myself so I enrolled in FBI fashion College and
completed my Certificate IV in Fashion Business. As a valued shopper
at Tuchuzy Burwood i ask a friend who worked there if the shop was
ever for sale and it was so I met with the Owner at the time and I
worked closely with her for 2 months, then bought the business. I
came into the industry from a different perspective, I was lucky that
I was able to buy my dream store. I have been very fortunate to come
from a business side as oppose to working in retail then buying a
store. Also I bought this store because I believed in
its target market and style.
What
is the highlight of your job?
Buying - I am so lucky to be able to see ranges 6 months in advance,
also seeing my customers walk out happy with their purchases.
What
is your one piece of advice for people looking for someone who wants
to become Fashion Retail Business Owner?
I would recommend doing a small business course at Tafe and or
a basic Accounts course because Business Owners need to stick to
budgets and be number savvy.
Who
is your icon in the fashion industry and why?
Kate Moss - she wears what she likes, how she likes, when she likes.
She is a trendsetter and not a follower. She has her own individual
style and i love her Top Shop Collections.
Where
do you see yourself in 5 years?
Still
styling outfits for my customers.
